Nurturing Potential, Naturally
At Montessori Cottage Nurseries, we follow the time-tested Montessori approach because we believe childhood is a time of immense curiosity, potential, and natural growth. The Montessori method empowers children to become independent, confident, and joyful learners—right from the start.
Over a century ago, Dr. Maria Montessori—a pioneering physician and educator—developed a revolutionary approach to early childhood education. Grounded in science and guided by respect for the child, her method has stood the test of time. Today, her philosophy continues to inspire educators around the world—and lies at the heart of everything we do at Montessori Cottage Nurseries.
The Montessori Curriculum
The Montessori curriculum is holistic and hands-on. Children move freely through areas of learning, guided by their interests and developmental readiness.
Practical Life: Pouring, sweeping, cooking, building, coordination and independence.
Sensorial: Exploring with the senses to refine perception and understanding.
Mathematics: Using physical materials to grasp abstract concepts.
Language: From rich vocabulary and storytelling to phonics and early writing.
Culture & Science: Geography, botany, zoology, and the wider world.
Art & Music: Encouraging creativity, self-expression, and fine motor skills.
The Absorbent Mind
From birth to age six, children have an extraordinary ability to absorb information from their surroundings effortlessly. Montessori called this the “absorbent mind.” Our environments are crafted to make the most of this unique window—offering meaningful activities that shape understanding and character.
We help children develop real-world skills and decision-making confidence. With freedom to choose and the support to succeed, they grow into capable, kind, and resilient individuals.
Montessori Cottage Nurseries provide fresh, nourishing meals every day, prepared with seasonal ingredients and plenty of care. Our menus are designed to support healthy growth and happy mealtimes, with a balance of vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and fruit.
Children enjoy calm, communal meals and snacks where they’re encouraged to pour their own drinks, serve themselves, and develop positive food habits from an early age. We cater for all dietary requirements and offer a varied weekly menu that includes dishes like homemade vegetable bakes, seasonal soups, and wholesome desserts like fruit platters and oat bakes.
Good food. Great habits. Happy children.
